This 50 year old tawny, made from a blend of five different grape varieties after world war two,it’s dark amber colour is followed by sweet notes of roasted nuts, molasses, maple syrup, caramel, toffee, and brandy macerated berry fruit. The aftertaste goes on for 60+seconds, it’s pretty spectacular stuff.

This grape Piquepoul Blanc New to me as well is located in the Coteaux du Languedoc between Beziers and Montpellier. The wine got a spicy aniseed bouquet, green fruits and herbs, quite resinous, ample mouthfeel with savoury flavours of iodine, yellow plum and pepper, also a sharp prickle and full-bodied.

This beautiful wine is coming from Navarra witch is a province adjoining Rioja stretching up into the Pyrenees. The climat is continental, but not to hot in the summer due to the relatively northern latitude. This is a Franco/Spanish style with an elegant savoury blackcurrant fruit tempered by aromatic notes of rosewood, cigarbox and black pepper.

It doesn’t get much better than this 2001 La Testa Cabernet sauvignon, one of the most awesome,potentially perfect young reds I have ever tasted; it is almost pure black in its purle colour, with a seamless texture, and unreal levels of intensity, blackberry jam infused with expresso bean chocolate, liquorices and vanilla aromas and flavours that are flawlessely presented. Full-bodied and massive, sweet, mammothly rich, but strikingly elegant too, floral notes shine through on both the aroma and palate presence, with no hard edges, the tannins are there, but currently obscured by the fruit. This is a fascinating, sexy, explosively rich, highly extracted, beautifully balanced Cabernet as one could ever wish to find. .

It boasts superb purity, tremendous intensity, and a full-bodied, long, flowing finish.

On the palate the wine has supple and fruity attack enhanced by an acidic sensation in mid-palate. The tannins derived from grape skins surface thereafter and provide contrast to the substance as well as a superb crispy impression. The same fruity flavours apparent in the nose are present on the palate and finish with a note of licorice. Good length for a Mexican Syrah

Elegant structure, a full mouth and ripe tannins. Forest fruits with a hint of violet finishing on a note of peppery spice. This is a medium bodied wine.

The cuvee Classique is a blend of Carignan 35%, Grenache 30% and Syrah 35% from vines planted on hard red clay soil. This is typical Languedoc blend. For style this wine is dark red, almost purple colour.
