Le Pont de la Tour is one of Terence Conran’s most elegant restaurants with an established reputation for the quality and excellence of both its menu and its extensive wine list. Situated on the banks of the River Thames, the restaurant overlooks the most famous bridge in the world, its namesake – Tower Bridge. Opened in September 1991, it was the second Butlers' Wharf restaurant. In addition to its outstanding restaurant, Le Pont de la Tour includes a bar & grill, food-store, bakery and wine merchant.

The Chef Director, David Burke, formerly Sous Chef at Bibendum, personally sources the very best ingredients. In addition to the daily order of crustacea, David makes the most of seasonal foods. Early spring sees lamb, asparagus and wild Scottish salmon; autumn menus are strong on game including grouse, venison and partridge as well as fungi and winter vegetables. During the summer months, David uses Terence Conran’s Berkshire garden as the source for his herbs and soft seasonal fruits.

Although Le Pont de la Tour’s menu is primarily British, it is strongly influenced by regional French and Italian cooking. In 1997, David’s food received the ultimate endorsement when Prime Minister Tony Blair chose to entertain President Clinton there. Le Pont de la Tour’s signature dishes include Roast Breast of Wood Pigeon, Wild Mushroom Ravioli and Truffle Oil; Braised Wild Venison Osso Bucco and Agen Prunes and Armagnac Parfait.

The menu always has a large selection of fish, both fresh and seawater as well as seafood, including langoustines, oysters and lobsters which are prepared at the crustacea bar just inside the entrance to the restaurant. Much of the crustacea is delivered fresh from Scotland, ensuring produce of the highest caliber. A set lunch menu is also available: £28.50 for 3 courses.

Drawing on the river’s influences, the restaurant is elegant and stylish: burr oak chairs covered in cream linen are inspired by the dining room chairs of the Normandie liner, caricatures by Sem line the south wall above a row of green banquettes and depict Parisian café society at the turn of the century.
