Twentyfour Restaurant and Bar

Links

25 Old Broad St EC2 7877 7708

Want to sweep someone off their feet? Try this 24th floor serviced view with an ace kitchen. As to be expected with a Roux Bros restaurant, details are worked out with consummate skill. Contemporary rather than modern décor in well-chosen neutrals and everything placed at the right height means diners (or drinkers at the bar) do not miss out on the restaurant’s USP. It is a complement to the food to say that it manages to distract diners from the view. Who could fail to be absorbed by seared scallops in a puddle of gazpacho with basil oil, spicy crab ravioli with a Thai-scented dressing or proper asparagus with a truffled hollandaise? Red mullet sits in proud contrast to accompanying squid-ink noodles with samphire and bouillabaisse sauce, rump of English lamb is well-served by goats cheese fondant potatoes and a pea puree done cappuccino style. Desserts hit the right notes and there are thoughtful dessert or cheese matches with wine. Good set lunches, a promise to get you out when you want and a mobile divert number. Maybe they could close the deal for you as well?
